About the Project
The apartment became a quiet Balinese island in the middle of Moscow’s glass-and-concrete “jungle”: natural wood, rattan, jute, and soft light create the feeling of a permanent holiday at home.
Context
A young active woman returned from vibrant Singapore to a Moscow new-build and did not want to accept the feeling of living in a standard urban box. She asked for a personal Balinese island within the city limits: a space where she could exhale after the city and reconnect with the lightness and warmth she associated with Asia.
Object and Task
A 78 m² open-plan apartment in the Symbol residential complex. The goal was to create a Balinese-inspired interior with a sense of spaciousness, a light palette, and an abundance of natural materials.
Completed Works
Balinese concept rooted in the client’s personal story. Spacious common area filled with air and daylight from two large windows. Light control through timber blinds and linen sheer curtains. Natural ash for window sills and kitchen worktop. Three rattan pendants above the table, a boucle lounge chair, and jute accents. Louvered wardrobe doors and a timber screen in the bedroom. Ethnic-style Home pendants, green tile in the guest bathroom, and a floor-to-ceiling lit mirror in the second bathroom.
Result
The apartment now works as a retreat from the city without leaving Moscow. The common area is full of air and live light that can be softened into an intimate atmosphere, while details from the slatted timber elements to the green tile quietly return the client to her favorite Asian references every single day.
