About the Project
We turned a house that “had no air” into a space that now literally breathes with light. The double-height living volume became the main art object instead of a difficult problem to solve, and it now sets the tone for the entire first floor.
Context
A family with two teenagers had grown tired of a heavy country-house atmosphere where furniture and belongings visually consumed the space. They wanted a light, airy interior where the double-height zone would become the heart of the house and daily life could unfold without visual clutter.
Object and Task
A 250 m² country house near Moscow with a double-height living zone for a family of four. The task was to create an interior that is not overloaded with furniture, with a large common space on the first floor plus a study, dressing room, and bathroom, and carefully resolved bedrooms upstairs.
Completed Works
Planning with a generous shared zone plus study, dressing room, and bathroom on the first floor. Development of the double-height wall in three options, followed by a final composition of natural onyx slab, MDF panels, and a brass insert with perimeter lighting. Bright living room. Master suite, daughters’ bedrooms, and guest room on the upper floor. A sculptural 3D-panel headboard in the master bedroom with concealed doors to the bathroom and dressing room.
Result
The house now feels light rather than burdened. The onyx-and-brass feature wall, restrained furniture, and clear functional zoning make the living room a place the whole family wants to share, while the upstairs rooms remain calm private worlds with character but without unnecessary noise.
